Not just a historic house, the California Heritage Museum presents fascinating exhibitions on diverse aspects of the state’s cultural riches. Friendly, well-informed staff welcome you to permanent displays of Monterrey Furniture, California tile and pottery in domestic room settings that bring history home. Hours: Wednesday–Sunday, 11 a.m.–4 p.m. Closed: Mondays, Tuesdays, Thanksgiving Day and Christmas Day. Metro: Tide Shuttle–Ocean Park Boulevard stop. Daily year-round service. By car: Take Santa Monica (10) Freeway west to the Fourth Street exit, turn left (south) on Fourth Street to Ocean Park Boulevard, turn right (west) on Ocean Park Boulevard to Main Street. Limited free parking exists adjacent to museum. Paid parking is available in the beach lots located north of Ocean Boulevard off Main Street.
