Converted to a colorful Mexican market place in 1930, it is also the setting for holiday celebrations and Mexican style dancing and music. Olvera Street is the oldest part of the City of Los Angeles otherwise known as the birthplace of the City of Angels or El Pueblo Historic Monument. Many Latinos often refer it as La Placita Olvera. Of the Monument?s twenty-seven historic buildings, four are restored as museums. Take a walk through time and see a greater range of architectural styles than can be found anywhere else in Los Angeles from an Adobe dwelling of 1818 to a Spanish style church of 1926 It's one of Los Angeles' most famous tourist attractions right across the street from the Union Station and one block away from Chinatown.
